I have accomplished a dream, the 200 goals in Serie A. Now I am being asked what are my plans ahead, am I to walk away from football or to rethink to stay. It is really a dilemma when you are caught between the joy of a goal and the exit to my career. I am grateful that both joy & suffering come and go in my life alternatively. I believe that I become matured through these happiness and sorrow and I have learned they are always the two sides of a coin.

I went through many injuries in my career, which are being marked like maps on my legs, they remind me of both the bad and good times when I recover. Since my first day on 10 March in Napoli and the recent Sunday match at Parma, there are a lot of emotions which live through my memory and also the 200th goal has left me an unforgettable memory of the city and field, combining with joy & sorrow. On this field our friend Vittorio Mero is not there again just before a game of Coppa Italia; on this field I jeopardized my career because of serious injuries. I saw the same goal which I accomplished one of my dreams. Life is really magical. When I was injured, I could never immagine after some time I can play and mark a goal again, it is really the fate of a footballer.

I want to share the happiness with my fellow colleges, without doubts I have to dedicate to those teams in which I have served to play, from the ones in Florence, Brescia, Torino, Milan and Bologna, they make up all parts of my memories. The experience, friendship and emotions are all I have. This is one of the most precious thing that enables me to grow up as a footballer and as a man.

I have seen all the facets of football, it is fortunate that I live in harmonies and tensions of small and big clubs, where with them the professional staff really helped me a lot. I really wish to thank them. I refer to the warehousemen, the chefs, and the servants, the security persons, the drivers and the medical staff. I also could not forget the trainers who have enriched and enabled me to grow as a prefessional player and as a human. I also wish to thank the management and presidents of these clubs, who have confidence in my quality.

The most important thing for a footballer is, according to myself, the fortune to have met so many good friends, they treat me with true affections, & also my family which is always has very important position in my life. I also think of my brothers, my parents Fiorindo and Matilde. I truely thank them in helping me to become a footballer. My special gratitude belongs to my wife Andreina and my children, Valentina and Mattia, their love, patience and discretion have supported me so much in my football life: without their passion and happiness I cannot survive until now in my career.

I also want to thank Vittorio Petrone, who is my manager and my friend for more than 10 years. I also cannot forget the support and passion from all the fans, who keep on encouraging me not to give up and assisting me to overcome every injury. These helps are decisive, because everyday and in every occasions there are new challenges that I have to face and always have to start over again with determination and humbleness.

I believe that I have rided on these ingredients from 10 March of 87 in Napoli until last Sunday in Parma, which brings together the desire, the shots and the curves leading to 200 goals, these run through my career dedicated to football, and the great passion of my life.

To all people who are always by my side, who are certainly not the least important, are those fans from the Passion Network, I send them my sincerest thanks. I always look into the future. I fear of nothing and needn't fear of anything in my future, even if I have to put down my words to mark an end to my career and my desire to play.
